When you say Nevada, most people think of Las Vegas. However, the state has much more to offer than a bunch of casinos. For example, Incline Village, located near the Diamond Peak Ski Resort, is a wonderful venue for a Lake Tahoe retreat. If you prefer the Heavenly Ski Resort, seek accommodations in Stateline, Nevada, which is located in close proximity to downtown South Lake Tahoe. Escape form the noise of the non-stop ski resort party people by choosing a bed and breakfast instead of an on-mountain condo. Boulder city, located 23 miles outside of Vegas, is a peaceful artist and retiree community. It was originally built by the Bureau of Reclamation, for workers of the Hoover Dam construction project. At the time, the city had strict rules against gambling and alcohol. While alcohol is now legal in Boulder City, gambling is not. However, there is still much to do. Don't miss the Hoover Dam tour. You can spend a relaxing day at beautiful Lake mead, where you can swim, fish, go boating or just hang out and enjoy the scenery. A stay at a Boulder City romantic inn makes for a wonderful retreat. Carson City is Nevada's historic capital. This 1860s gold and silver mining town remains faithful to its heritage. Be sure to visit the Carson City Mint. Opened in 1870, it was responsible for the production of dimes, twenty cent pieces, quarters, halves, seated dollars, trade dollars, Morgan dollars, five dollar gold pieces, ten dollars gold pieces, and twenty dollar gold pieces. Virginia City, which is another mining town, offers free mining tours at various locations. Finally, if you do visit Las Vegas, it's not always about the gambling. Be sure to take in some of the shows, especially Beatle's Luv and Phantom of the Opera. Here's some good news for Trekkies. Based on the overwhelming popularity of J J Abram's new Star Trek film, the highly popular Star Trek Experience, which recently closed at the Las Vegas Hilton, will soon be moving to the Neonopolis Center in downtown Vegas. If you missed it the first time around, this is an absolute must-see attraction, even if you are not a devoted fan. At night, escape form the non-stop noise and action that characterizes the big hotels, and treat yourself to a peaceful stay at a bed and breakfast.
