When you say Nevada, most people think of Las Vegas. However, the state has much more to offer than a bunch of casinos. Carson City is Nevada's historic capital. This 1860s gold and silver mining town remains faithful to its heritage. Be sure to visit the Carson City Mint. Opened in 1870, it was responsible for the production of dimes, twenty cent pieces, quarters, halves, seated dollars, trade dollars, Morgan dollars, five dollar gold pieces, ten dollars gold pieces, and twenty dollar gold pieces. Virginia City, which is another mining town, offers free mining tours at various locations. Finally, if you do visit Las Vegas, it's not always about the gambling.
