Feature Attractions

After you have spent several hours visiting the shops in downtown Boothbay Harbor, visit our own Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, where there is always something interesting going on, no matter what the season. Then head out to Pemiquid Point Lighthouse. How pretty is it? Well, it was chosen to represent Maine on the back of the Maine State Quarter. Visit the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland and maybe meet Jamie Wyeth. We did. (Our daughter met Andrew.) Or take a quick jaunt to L.L. Bean's World headquarters in Freeport and visit the multitude of outlets that Freeport is known for. More of a History buff? Visit the Maine Maritime Museum in nearby Bath . . . and while you're at it, have lunch or dinner at Beale St. Barbeque. Can you get better barbeque in South Carolina? Maybe. But do you really want to travel that far for take-out?

The Welch House Inn

Description:
The Welch House Inn, a classic New England bed & breakfast, was built atop McKown Hill in 1873 by a family of seafarers. The serene hilltop setting offers an unsurpassed view of Boothbay Harbor and the open ocean, yet restaurants, shops, galleries and all the harbor activities are just steps away.

The Welch House is the perfect bed and breakfast choice for vacations, escapes, honeymoons, and romantic getaways. Planning an event? Our fourteen guest rooms happily accommodate weddings and family reunions, as well as business meetings or executive retreats.

Revel in the magnificent view from our large breakfast room and spacious main deck, while enjoying a delightful gourmet breakfast that changes daily. Choose from our seasonal selection of homemade granola and muffins, fruit and yogurt, and specialty coffee, tea, and cocoa, while we prepare a meal you'll remember. You may be treated to eggs florentine with crispy ham, lemon ricotta pancakes with raspberry syrup, lobster souffle and citrus salad, or strawberry stuffed french toast with maple bacon.

The deck and living room, both overlooking the harbor, are the perfect gathering places for witty conversation or intimate meetings. We serve complimentary afternoon treats, and coffee, tea, and cocoa are available day and night.

The guest rooms all have private baths, and are comfortably appointed with an eclectic collection of antiques and reproductions. Twelve of our fourteen rooms boast breathtaking views, with King, Queen, and Double beds available to suit your preference. Rooms are air-conditioned and include telephones, cable TV, and VCRs.

For rainy days or cool evenings, choose from our extensive collection of movies and settle in for a cozy stay. Many rooms are available with Fireplaces.

Rates range from $140 to $220per night in high season (5/22/09 - 10/18/09) and from $95 to $165 in low season (1/1/09 - 5/21/09 and 10/18/09 - 12/31/09) and are subject to Maine's 7% lodging tax. Visit the Welch House Inn in Boothbay Harbor, and you'll understand why Maine is really "the way life should be."
