Architectural style
Built in 1816, The Inn at Woodstock Hill is composed of a large Federal/Georgian-style mansion with an attached carriage house that now serves as the Inn's Main Dining Room and Bar. Additional buildings on the property include a 3 bedroom guest cottage and small barn. The Inn once boasted a grand dairy barn which was torn down in 2001. The foundation of the barn now accents the property with a maze of hand laid stone walls. The 3 story main building is all post and beam framed with a steeply pitched hip roof with several dormers. The exterior is sheathed with wood shingles and the windows are flanked by movable wooden shutters. The interior features many fine Federal-style appointments including a sophisticated curved staircase. The balustrade with spiral volute at the newel is fully Federal in its character. Reeding and dentil work are used extensively on the cornice and doorway surrounds. The Inn's front sitting rooms are connected with elegant arched doorways and functioning pocket doors. Each of the 10 original fireplaces are uniquely designed: 2 with handpainted tiles, one with embossed and moulded brass and copper set in a Federal-style surround, another with black marble.
