Description:

Waipiata is a secluded luxury retreat with a unique relationship to the beautiful coastal and rural landscape surrounding it.

It is a 5-star luxury, architecturally designed bed and breakfast lodge on the coast of the Mahurangi Harbour, just 30 minutes drive north of Auckland and close to the vineyards and markets of Matakana. It is at the gateway to the beautiful Bay of Islands.

The lodge is contemporary and elegant and the guest rooms luxurious and beautifully appointed. All rooms have floor to ceiling glass walls with magnificent views of the harbour and estuary . There is a swimming pool and the 20m infinity lap pool forms an integral part of the atrium of the lodge.

The lodge is an award winning architectural home. Contemporary and elegant it is bordered by lush farmland, lawns, gardens, native trees and small coves with abundant native bird life.

Environmental and sustainability. Waipiata focuses on environmental and social performance.

Sustainability and organic practices are used in the herb, vegetable gardens and orchard. The produce is used in Waipiata's sumptious breakfasts.

Architectural style

The architect, Noel Lane, was awarded the 'NZ Institute of Architects New Zealand Award for Architecture - Residential' for the design of Waipiata.

Built in 2004 the lodge is contemporary and modern, with limestone floors, walnut fitting. The glass walls bring the outside in and guests enjoy a unique experience of the rural and coastal landscape around them.
