No it isn't. The point of our Bid-A-Bed™ feature is to help innkeepers fill last minute rooms by offering them at a discount and to help you get a great deal on a fantastic room. This way, everybody wins!

It doesn't hurt to place a bid and see what inns are available; if they meet your criteria, then great--book it! If your bid is accepted you do not have to book --it's only an offer! If not, please use the regular booking method.

Most people will honor the spirit of the Bid-A-Bed™™ feature, but a few will try to game it as described above. To prevent that, you can only bid once every 24 hours for a given location. Within that 24 hour period, subsequent bids will have to be made at least 25 miles from previous bid locations. Furthermore, since you can only book up to 10 days in advance this severely reduces the usefulness of such a strategy. Your best bet is to make a fair offer and be happy saving a few bucks! Keep in mind the hospitality property owner's strategy (to fill un-reserved rooms tonight or tomorrow night); most hospitality property owners will not accept bids too far in advance (they set the day-in-advance threshold themselves), so the closer you are to the date the more likely you will get a taker for your offer.
